The Glass Menagerie is a Memory Play written by Tennessee Williams. It's a play like no other, revolutionizing and giving a name to a trope that had never been named before.  

It follows the memory of Tom Wingfield, the eldest son, and the dysfunction that ensues as his mother, Amanda Wingfield, progressively becomes obsessed with the idea of a gentleman suitor, Jim O'Connor, for her daughter, Laura Wingfield.
